I like the new name and it looks like you took my advice to update the URL (or you had it planned anyway). I made one tweak to the Toolbar to make it more readable. We might need to do the same thing for the wordmark. It looks like there's something in black below "Monsterpedia", but I can't really read it.
For the rest, I am really liking the updates here and looking forward to the new features Fandom's introducing that will help with giving all wikis a more modern look.
Hey! I noticed you mentioning a globally blocked user on this wiki. Are you able to shed some light on that please and if there is any admin help I can offer? I'll delete the article you tagged for deletion. Thanks!
It initially looked like the all-too-common problem of fan fiction being repeatedly added until it becomes deliberate false information and vandalism. This specific case involved taking the character of Sofia the First and inserting it into the Monsters, Inc. franchise and followed the sequence I described, including the part where she had received warnings about fan fiction and advice about how to add it in a better way to keep it separate from official information. Those fell on deaf ears and any reasons she gave why she was adding it amounted to little more than "it's true because I say it's true".
I've been backtracking the edits by this person and it looks like they've used four accounts to add the same Sofia the First fan fiction on about a half dozen wikis, not counting any specifically for fan fiction. However, there are also numerous IPs that have been adding definite false information about what movies actors have been in (often the same group of actors being added to different movies) and putting in things like Hailee Steinfeld died this year. This has been going on since about April and has been occurring on both Fandom wikis and Wikipedia, which shows this is a continual pattern of behavior of adding false information rather than just someone who wants to add their fan fiction.
Thanks for the clarification. I've passed details of this to the VSTF so hopefully they (and me) can keep an eye on the situation going forward. With Monsters at Work releasing next year, we should try to be vigilant so to keep information accurate during the release period.
Thanks for keeping an eye out on the wiki, I know you're busy on lots of other wikis, but your help would be appreciated going forward too! :)
Inserting Sofia Balthazar into Monsters Inc (including protected pages, somehow they have the rights to vandalize but others don't have the rights to undo). I saw you spoke to them a week ago, and they're busier than ever since.
This is shaping up to be exactly like pretty much every other case I've run into where someone repeatedly adds fan fiction.
The person receives advice from others like myself that they need to put their fan fiction on a different wiki. They ignore it and keep doing it.
When it's pointed out that it's fan fiction, they insist their fan fiction is true even when it's obvious it isn't.
They keep adding it until it becomes the same as vandalism. Admins start blocking them.
They create one or more new accounts so they can keep adding their fan fiction.
Creating the new accounts has the opposite effect of what they want. It sends the message they think rules don't apply to them and the new accounts are blocked very quickly.
They keep at it until enough people join in to remove their fan fiction and they're basically forced out of the wiki.
They go to another wiki that's similar, or maybe it's on a completely unrelated subject, and they continue adding their fan fiction there. This sends another message that they think rules don't apply to them.
What's really sad about this is no matter how much you try to help them add their fan fiction in more appropriate places or to mark it as fan fiction so it's distinct and separate from official information, they don't listen and usually get more and more stubborn as time goes by. The thing they like so much that they want to add their own version of it (the fan fiction) becomes what hurts them and maybe sours them on it. I can't even remember the last time a person like this listened and changed their behavior so they could stay on the wiki.
