The Yeti, also known as The Adorable Snowman and formerly The Abominable Snowman, is a recurring character in the Monsters series. Formerly a mailroom worker at Monsters, Inc., he was banished to the Human World after discovering Randall Boggs' plans for the Scream Extractor.
The Yeti used to live in a cave in the Himalayas, and despite his banishment, he enjoyed living in the Human World but was still more than happy to return home to the monster realm. One of his favorite hobbies is making lemon snow cones, and he is now the official Monsters Inc. snow cone vendor.
Biography[]
Pre-banishment[]
Prior to being banished, the Yeti was friends with a monster named Bigfoot. Upon Bigfoot's banishment, he went a bit crazy, creating a large diaper made of poison ivy and wearing it on his head, calling himself "King Itchy", which the Yeti thought was unfortunate.
In Monsters University[]
Yeti landed a job working in the mailroom at Monsters, Inc. When Mike and Sulley were employed there, the Yeti assisted in training them, warning them that improper handling of the mail is punishable by banishment, to which the two thank him for the warning.
In Monsters, Inc.[]
When Sulley and Mike were banished to the Himalayas wasteland by Randall and Mr. Waternoose, they were greeted by the Yeti. Contrary to his name and appearance, the Yeti was very friendly, offering them snow cones and allowing them to stay in his cave for a short time. When he passively mentioned a local village, Sulley desperately asked for directions, as he was trying to make his way back to Monstropolis and rescue Boo. The journey would have been roughly a three-day hike, so Sulley fashioned a sled out of the gear in the Yeti's cave. The Yeti warned Sulley about the cold, but Sulley decided to take his chances, leaving Mike behind with the Yeti. Mike later found his way back to the company, possibly with help from the Yeti.
Return to Monstropolis[]
In a book based on Monsters, Inc, the Yeti is taken back to Monstropolis by Mike, Sulley, and Celia. However, this is possibly not canon.
In Monsters at Work[]
The Yeti makes an official return to Monstropolis in the "Monsters Inc." spin-off series "Monsters at Work", in the season one episode, "Adorable Returns". After an incident with the door tracks, Tylor accidentally finds himself at the Yeti's cave with Val, who went looking for him. When the two make their exit, he- now having adopted the moniker the Yeti- follows them through the door and to the factory. Tylor tries to manage the situation by following him around the facility and coaxing him back to his door, until Cutter and Duncan catch the two of them back at the banishment door, sending him back to the Himalayas- much to the chagrin of Tylor. Shortly thereafter, Val discovers that Randall had him banished for discovering a letter in which the lizard monster disclosed the nature of the Scream Extractor. Knowing this, they manage to convince Mike and Sulley to un-banish Adorable, and he's hired as the official snow cone vendor of Monsters, Inc.
Personality and appearance[]
The Yeti is a tall monster with grey skin. He is covered in white fur, with only his hands and facial features fully visible. He is a biped and has two arms.
Contrary to his appearance, the Yeti has a friendly and agreeable personality. He is hospitable and kind towards his guests, giving them the benefit of the doubt (he thought Mike and Sulley were "hugging" in the snow). Though he only knows Mike and Sulley for a short time, he shows concern for their safety, cautioning them about banishment during their time in the mailroom, and later discouraging Sulley from going out in a Himalayas blizzard.

Trivia[]
- The Yeti appears during the end credits of Cars as a snowplow when Mack is at the drive-in movie theater.
- He resembles Bumble the Abominable Snowman from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
- It is revealed in Monsters University that the Yeti was actually once a mail sorter at the Monsters, Inc. factory, but was banished to the Himalayas for accidentally messing up his job by tampering with the mail. This is also a homage to his voice actor's role as Cliff Clavin the mailman on Cheers. This was given more detail Monsters at Work, which confirmed that he was specifically banished for discovering a letter with Randall's scream extractor before the events of the first film.
